Delta will allow up to 2 crates (1 dog per crate) per ticketed passenger, charged as "excess baggage"; the price quoted to me on July 5th was 123 EURO per crate each way. Each crate may have an overall dimension (length + width + height) of no more than 115 inches (292 cm). Reservations for the dogs should be made as soon as the individual passengers' reservations are confirmed. Although Delta did not say that there was a per-aircraft limitation on the number of live-animal crates, somehow I do not see that it would be possible for 50 to be accommodated on the same flight(s) as the owner/handlers, especially on the Atlanta-Pittsburgh flight which has a smaller cargo-hold than the overseas jet. Any crates larger than the above-mentioned size must be handled through Delta's cargo office in Frankfurt; the phone number provided today was 49 69 69861914 |
